The Tabor men’s basketball team fended off a pesky Southwestern team Thursday night to claim their first KCAC win of the year with a 61-53 win in Winfield.

Tyson Ratzlaff led all scorers with 18 points including several key points down the stretch.

The Bluejays went into the locker room at half trailing 28-22 to the Moundbuilders.

In the second half, the Bluejays exploded and held the lead late into the game until Southwestern mounted a comeback.

After Scott Brubacher missed a running jumper in the lane at the end of regulation, the Bluejays and the Moundbuilders headed into overtime.

In overtime, Jimmy Janzen and Tyson Ratzlaff took control of the game and gave the Bluejays a 61-53 win and their first KCAC win of year.

Tabor will host McPherson College Saturday in Hillsboro.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
