Growing faith

This weekend, Hillsboro hosted the district youth convention of the Southern District of Mennonite Brethren Churches. Well over 500 high school students from the Midwest attended the event. Adult volunteers from the three Mennonite Brethren congregations in Hillsboro staffed the conference and, by reports we heard, helped make it a resounding success.

Today’s youth are exposed to a variety of influences, whether through media, at school or at home. Some of the influences are constructive and positive, others are not. We take heart when churches of whatever denominational stripe invest their resources in exposing youth to the most positive influence of all: a solid spiritual foundation. A seed of faith planted now can grow into something useful and beautiful in time. -DR
