Hillsboro beats Marion, 32-0, Friday

The Hillsboro Trojans scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to break open a tight game en route to a 32-0 win over Marion Friday night at Reimer Field.

Phillip Terrell scored first for Hillsboro on a five-yard run on the second play of the second quarter. Kris Jones was stopped on the 2-point conversion run and Hillsboro led 6-0 with 8 seconds gone in the period.

The Trojans scored twice more on big plays to take command over the Warriors (5-3). Quarterback Dustin Jost hooked up with wide receiver Layne Frick for an 81-yard TD with 8:16 left in the half, then Adam Woods scored on a 34-yard reverse with 2:40 to go. Janes Bina’s extra point made the score 19-0 at the break.

Hillsboro added two third-quarter scores for good measure. Alan Yoder scored from nine yards out with 4:15 left in the period and Terrell scored on a one-yard run with 1:47 left. He had set up the touchdown with a 55-yard scamper the play before. Bina made the PAT for the final margin.

With the win, Hillsboro moves to 8-0 for the season and 2-0 in district action. The Trojans will try for an undefeated season and the right to move in the playoffs with a big game against Hesston (7-1) at Hesston on Thursday night.
