DEATHS: Anton Knaak, 94

Anton “Tony” N. Knaak, a retired clothing and retail store manager of the Ben Franklin Store in Hillsboro, died Oct. 14 in Hillsboro.


The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Oct. 18, at First Mennonite Church with pastor Ken Peterson officiating. A private burial will be held.


He was born Oct. 24, 1906, to Anton N. and Maria Nickel Knaak in rural Hillsboro. On June 20, 1937, he married Irma Shahan, who survives.


He is also survived by three sons, John Knaak of Hillsboro, Richard Knaak of Enid, Okla., and Bruce Knaak of Emporia; a brother, Peter Knaak of Hillsboro; a sister, Mildred Jantz of Hillsboro; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.


A memorial fund was established with First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro.
