Tabor gearing up for homecoming, Oct. 11-14

Tabor College alumni and friends are invited to participate in Homecoming 2001 planned for Oct. 11 to 14.


The weekend begins Thursday night with one of four performances of Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man” at 7:30 p.m. The musical will also be presented Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoon. Each performance will be in the high school auditorium.


The Homecoming Festival Golf Classic begins Friday morning at the Reflection Ridge Golf Course in Wichita, and will be followed in the evening by the Homecoming Festival Dinner, located at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Wichita.


Many sports activities are planned for Saturday, including alumni games. The men and women’s soccer teams will play Sterling College on the Vernon R. Wiebe Field. The women will play at 9:30 a.m., and the men at 11:30 a.m.


The football game, also against Sterling, will begin at 2 p.m. at Reimer Field. Coronation of the 2001-02 host and hostess will take place during halftime this year.


This year’s candidates, nominated by the senior class, are: Dylan Pohlman, Burrton; Cody Toews, Lustre, Mont.; Nate Tofteland, Laurel, Mont.; Jesse Warkentin, Wichita; Amanda Edington, Emporia; Angela Hoops, Byron, Neb.; Carlin Regier, Hillsboro; and Amanda Schultz, Osseo, Minn.


A two-mile and five-kilometer fun-run will be held Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. The entry fee of $15 includes a long-sleeved T-shirt.


Activities for children ages 2 through grade six will be held Saturday morning.


Saturday concludes with alumni soccer and baseball games, a praise singing and concert on the green and the annual Dutch Supper. A Sunday noon buffet will be offered in the cafeteria.
