With a split against previously undefeated Ellinwood Tuesday night in Hillsboro, the HHS volleyball team will be seeded No. 2 at the Canton-Galva Invitational Tournament this Saturday.
The Eagles defeated Hillsboro in their first match by identical scores of 15-10, 15-10. It appeared the Trojans might be swept by the Eagles when Ellinwood won the first game of the second match, 17-15. But Hillsboro came back strong to take the next two games and the match, 15-7, 15-6.
With the split, Hillsboro’s season record stands at 12-3, good enough for a No. 2 seed at Canton-Galva this Saturday. Moundridge will be the No. 1 seeded team with a 13-3 record.
Hillsboro will open pool play Saturday at 9 a.m. against Solomon. Following that, they are scheduled to play Little River at 11 a.m. and Hesston at 1 p.m. All of Hillsboro’s pool-play matches will be at the Galva gymnasium.
Semifinals and finals will be played at Canton. The semifinal matches between the top two teams from each pool will begin 45 minutes after pool play is completed. Finals will then follow the semifinal matches.
