Zac Ewert took the lead early Wednesday at the Douglass cross country meet and never let up as he won his first meet of his career with a time of 18:36.

Keith Dudley, Nick Carlson and Andrew Gayle did not run in the event for various reasons.

The win helped the Marion boys finish fourth overall. More than 50 runners participated in the boys’ 3.1-mile run.

The girls were paced by Nikki Moody, who came in 17th with a time of 14:48. As a team, the Marion girls finished fourth overall.
