Organizers of the county’s first Labor Day weekend fireworks display at Marion County Lake Sunday night are calling the event an “awesome success.” Dale Snelling, lake manager, estimated that some 2,000 vehicles filled the coves and parking areas at the lake and figured two to three people were in each one. “It was awesome to see the lights of the fireworks and it was awesome for me to see all the headlights and tail lights as they left when it was over,” he said. “I’ve been here all my life and never seen anything like it.” The event was sponsored by the Marion County Economic Development Council and the Marion County commissioners.
