DEATHS: Eugene Waner, 60

Eugene Howard Waner, 60, a long-distance truck driver from Marion, died Wednesday, Aug. 22 near Wichita.


A memorial barbecue is being planned in his honor from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Marion County Lake East Shelter.


He was born Aug. 31, 1940, to John H. and Irma M. Allen Waner at Marion. On July 12, 1958, he was married to Judy Covey, who survives.


He also is survived by two sons, Jerald E. and wife Becky and Ty A. and wife Charlotte, all of Marion; one daughter, Teresa Beth Gomez of Marion; his father of Marion; one brother, John I. Waner and wife Rosie of Alba, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Sharran and husband David “Johnny” Johnson of Topeka, and Alice Waner of Canton; and five grandchildren.


Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
