DEATHS: Harold Woerz, 75

Harold Ray Woerz, 75, well-known cattleman in the Marion area, died Sunday, Aug. 19, at Marion Manor after a lengthy illness.


Services were planned for this morning at Marion Christian Church with John Yates officiating. Burial was at Marion Cemetery.


He was born Oct. 31, 1925, to Adolph and Inez Morse Woerz at Salem Hospital in Hillsboro and grew up on the family farm six miles west of Marion that his grandfather homesteaded in the late 1800s after arriving from Germany.


On March 27, 1949, he was married to Norma Jean Province, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Jay Woerz; three daughters, Rae Jean Woerz-Commerford, Diane Sams and Cyndi Woerz; a brother, Warren Woerz, and seven grandchildren.


A memorial has been established at the Marion Christian Church and Hospice.
