DEATHS: Edith Puttroff, 64

Edith Melzer Puttroff, 64, beautician, of Newton died June 12 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita.


The service was held June 15 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newton with Ken Schuckman officiating. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery in Newton.


She was born Dec. 27, 1936, to Helmut and Helene Kurt Melzer in Cologne, Germany. On Dec. 29, 1974, she was married to Fred W. Puttroff, who survives.


Other survivors include two sons, Eric A. and Blair Puttroff of Hillsboro; a stepson, Fred. W. Puttroff Jr. of Marion; three step-daughters, Judie and Ron Brewer, Karen Gonsalves and Kelly Puttroff, all of Newton; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.


A memorial was established with St. Mary’s School in Newton.
