DEATHS: Byrdie J. Wright, 93

“Byrdie” J. Wright, 93, a beautician and sales clerk, died June 8 at Marion Manor in Marion.


The funeral was June 11 at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion with pastor John Yates officiating. Interment was at Marion Cemetery.


She was born Oct. 10, 1907, to Richard and LuAnne Raffety at Hot Springs, Ark. In 1922, she was married to her first husband, Ray DeFore, who predeceased her.


In 1939, she was married to Kenneth Wright, who predeceased her in 1985.


She is survived by a son-in-law, Ralph Johnston of Marion; two grandchildren, Patricia Walters and husband Jerry of Kansas City, Kan., and Michael Johnston and wife Vicki of Kansas City, Mo.; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.


A memorial has been established with the Marion City Library.
