Partly Nonsense

I heard that the average family of four on vacation spends $223 per day for food and lodging. Hawaii has the highest per-family expenses at more than $400 per day. Kansas is the second lowest behind South Dakota at $169 per day.

My first thought is what are they eating and where are they staying to spend that much money in Kansas? When our family went on trips when I was a kid, we bought food at the grocery store and made our own meals most of the time.

Did you ever have one of those canvas water bags that hung on the front of the car to cool your drinking water?

If I seem distracted these days it’s because the Cameli boys are coming to Kansas this weekend. Can’t wait to see what they think is neat these days.

Alex should be pleased with the electric train this time because we have train tracks coming out of our ears and a new transformer to make it go.

The train now goes all over one of the bedrooms…under the bed, under the crib, under the dresser. It’s not the usual oval layout.

Our guests have had to tip-toe around the tracks for several months already.

When I attended Bethel College 35 years ago, I worked at a Newton nursery. Last week, when I was driving between Newton and Hutchinson, I saw some of the seedlings I help plant way back then.

You should see them now. I bet some of them are at least 40 feet tall.

Green beans. I really like to eat them, but lately I seem to be getting a lot of stems in the ones I get on my plate. I just hate it when that happens.

My sister, Elaine, and her girls were here to visit my mom last week. They went down to the Hillsboro library to check out some books and were going to check them out on my card.

Elaine was astonished to find out that I didn’t have a library card since I am so heavily involved with printing books and publishing.

Just because I print them doesn’t mean that I have time to read them.
