The Hillsboro Trojan girls and boys hosted — and then toasted — the Wellington Crusaders Saturday night at the Tabor College Gymnasium in Hillsboro.

The girls won their game, 57-15. The Trojans led 13-7 after one quarter, and then expanded their lead at each break — 27-11 at halftime, 45-13 after three quarters and finally the 42-point margin at the end.

Angela Herzet scored 25 points in her final regular-season “home” game. She scored all 18 points the Trojans tallied in the third quarter. Shannon Kroeker added 14 for Hillsboro, which moves to 17-1 on the season.

The boys bounced back from an atrocious game with Ellinwood the night before to crush the crusaders 65-40. Hillsboro led by 11 at halftime, 30-19, and then outscored the Crusaders 22-8 with some outstanding fast-break passing and shooting in the third quarter.

The Trojans got points from a lot of folks. Leading the way were Jeremy Loewen and Tyler Weinbrenner with nine each; Garrett Call and Andy Brubacher added eight apiece as the Trojans move to 12-6 on the season.
