WEB FLASH: Tabor men fall to Saint Mary; women win regular season finale (Feb. 17)

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN DR FOR MATT INSLEY
The Tabor College men lost the KCAC regular-season title game Saturday night (Feb. 17) to the Saint Mary College Spires in Leavenworth, 72-63.

Tabor led 27-25 at intermission, but in the second half Saint Mary was awarded 37 free throws by the officials and the Bluejays found it hard to compete in that environment.

Ernest Nortey led the Jays with 18 points, Micah Ratzlaff added 14. With the loss, Tabor finished in second place with a 14-4 record; Saint Mary wins the title and an automatic berth in the national tournament with a 15-3 conference record. Tabor can still make it to nationals, but they’ll have to win the KCAC tournament that begins next week.

The Tabor women won their season finale, 61-46. Carmen Hein led the team with a big second half and finished with 16 points. Angela Kroeker added 11. The women finish 8-10 in the KCAC, which should keep them out of the play-in round for the KCAC tournament.
