Blizzard conditions put Hillsboro area in the deep freeze

City crews were out in force Friday removing snow from Hillsboro’s downtown business district in the aftermath of the snowstorm that began Thursday evening and continued into Friday morning. Combined with the wind, white-out conditions were common in town and out of town. USD 410 joined other schools in the county and throughout much of the state in calling off classes for Friday. Hillsboro High School’s basketball games with Hesston were postponed until Feb. 22. Warming temperatures on Monday left many city streets swamped with water and slush. Weather forecasters were predicting more rain and snow for later this week.
