The Hillsboro Trojan girls’ basketball team turned up the defensive pressure in the second half to pull away from the host team 46-26 in the semifinals of the Southeast of Saline Invitational Tournament Thursday night.
Hillsboro led 16-11 at intermission, then scored two quick baskets off the press in the first minute to ignite a 14-5 third quarter run and pull away from Southeast. Julie Hett scored eight points in that pivotal quarter.
Hett finished with 12 points for the game. Angela Herzet led the Trojans with 14.
With the win, Hillsboro (10-1) advances into the finals against either Salina South or Concordia. That game will begin at 8 p.m. Friday.
