DEATHS: Homer Gill Jr., 89

Homer Gill Jr., 89, of Tulsa, Okla., died in his home Jan. 10. He was a retired music teacher who had taught in Durham Public Schools from 1955-1958.


The funeral service was Jan. 13 at the Bixby United Methodist Church with burial at the Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Okla.


He was born Jan. 24, 1911, to Homer Gill Sr. and Lillie May Medland Gill in Mulberry.


His wife, Elaine Bohannan, survives.


He is also survived by five children, Joyce and husband Marvin Hamm of Wells; Jerry Ann and husband Jerry Shimp of Bixby, Okla.; Jim and wife Mary Lou of Tulsa, Okla.; Joe and wife Ann of Bixby; Jayne and husband Ray Bowen, also of Bixby; three sisters, Winona Graham of Tahlequah, Okla.; Lois Findley of Cleveland, Ohio; and Marjorie Lee Shay of Houston, Texas. There are 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.


The family requests donations to the endowment funds of the music department of either Boston Avenue United Methodist or Bixby United Methodist churches.
