County spellers to compete for title

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Contestants from 12 Marion County schools will vie for the title of top speller in the annual Marion County Spelling Bee at 10 a.m., Feb. 8, in the Marion City Building.


Home-schooled students in Marion County who have not finished the eighth grade and will not turn 16 before May 31 may enter a home-schooled preliminary spelling bee by contacting Rose Davidson at (316) 382-8842.


Preliminary spelling bees need to be held soon so that winners may advance to the county contest.


Guests are welcome at the county-wide spelling bee. The doors will close promptly at 10 a.m.


Marion Elementary School is hosting the annual event.
