HHS to present madrigal dinner

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
The Hillsboro High School Choral Music Department is offering tickets for a “Christmas Old English Madrigal Dinner” through the HHS office. The event will be 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, and Monday, Dec. 11, at the high school gym.

Students from all choirs are involved in the production of this event, which has had a long history at HHS.

Charles Jensen, choral director during the 1970s, was the catalyst for this Renaissance event. His planning, the performers, musicians and support staff made the madrigal dinner an event to remember, according to David Clark, current choral director.

In 1982 the dinner was revived and was presented again in 1984 and 89.

This year’s presentation will take participants back to the Elizabethan England. Included in the program are the opening processional of the Wassail bowl, the boar’s head carol, flaming pudding carol; skits of the time period and concert.

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased in the HHS office.
