The women ran a 5K race with 40 runners competing. Karen Shearer led the way for the Bluejays, finishing 10th, and earning a medal with a time of 22:43.

The men ran an 8K race with 48 runners competing. Kevin Nickel led the men with a time of 30:35, putting him in 19th place.

Nickel was followed by Logan Duerksen, 24th in 31:01; Derek Pridey, 25th in 31:08; Pete Kleinsasser, 28th in 31:29; and Ryan Sperling 31st in 32:25.

Coach Karol Hunt said, “The Ottawa University course at Pomona Lake is the toughest one of the season because of the challenging hills. That affects times. Overall, the runners just have to gut it out, and I was pleased that our individuals did that.”

The Bluejays’ next meet will be in Winfield on Saturday. The women run at 10:30 a.m. and the men at 11:15 a.m.

This will be the final tune up before the KCAC meet on Saturday, Nov. 4.
