Candidates for Hillsboro High School homecoming king and queen were announced Friday at a student assembly. Pictured above are (from left) Grant Brubacher, Julie Hett, Nathan Fish, Jennifer Mohn, Ryan Jilka, Amy Goertzen, Andrew Jost, Bridget Thiessen, Jeremy Loewen and Dionne Jost. Traditionally, candidates are paired alphabetically, but this year the king candidates secured the name of their partner by bobbing for apples, as Ryan Jilka demonstrates in the right hand photo. The name of a queen candidate was inside each apple. Homecoming activities will begin Friday at 2:45 p.m. with a parade down Grand and Main streets, followed by a downtown community pep rally at 3 p.m., a tailgate party at Reimer Field at 6 p.m., the crowning ceremony at 6:15 p.m., the homecoming game with Ellinwood at 7 p.m., and a homecoming dance for students at 9:45 p.m.
