New library books arrive at the Senior Center at noon, Thursday, Sept. 7. Come in and check out some good reading for these hot days.



The Marion County Retired Teachers Organization will meet at the center at noon also.



The Senior Center is planning a van outing on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The destination is Exploration Place in Wichita, where the weather broadcast from KSNW/Channel 3 and other exhibits will be seen.



A video, “Label-Ease,” will be shown on Wednesday, Sept. 13. This video explains an easy way to determine the nutritional value of foods.



Local physician Randy Whitely will speak at the center after lunch on Thursday, Sept. 14. He will speak on allergies. Mary McFadden, a registered nurse, will also be available for foot care and blood pressures from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.



Those honored for having August birthdays were guests last week for lunch at the center. Vi Suderman, Liz Ryding, Agnes Steinert, Orlando Schultz, Isabelle Unrau, Arpa Ewert, Verna Funk and Wes Pankratz sat at the birthday table.



The following volunteered their time last week at the center.



Kitchen: Gladys Jantz, Nellie Jost, Irma Koop, Irma Groening, Judy Malin, Betty Bernhardt, Velda Hiebert, Lydia Pankratz, Elaine Leppke, Fern Unruh and Mariann Unruh.



Meal drivers: Elgin Bartel, John and Hilda Vogt.



FISH drivers: Art Unrau, Eldon Knak, Ray Franz and Albert Fadenrecht.



SENIOR MENU



Sept. 7: Oven-fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy/coleslaw, pistachio pudding, whole wheat roll.



Sept. 8: Smothered steak, vegetable noodle casserole, apricots, whole wheat roll, raspberry poke cake.



Sept. 11: Ham, macaroni and cheese, cauliflower and carrots, whole wheat roll, cinnamon applesauce.



Sept. 12: Pork roast, mashed potatoes with gravy, Italian zucchini, bread dressing, fresh fruit



Sept. 13: Lasagna, tossed salad, garlic bread, mandarin Jell-O.
