KU Med Center to sponsor photo contest on aging

The Kansas Center on Aging is sponsoring a photo contest for amateur and professional photographers to bring attention to the many faces of older adults in Kansas. Awards will be $500 for first place, $250 second place and $200 for third place.

Contest rules:

— Each photo must include at least one Kansan age 60 or older.

— The contest is open to amateur and professional photographers residing in Kansas.

— All photos must be received by Feb. 2, 2001, and must be the original work of the person submitting it.

— A maximum of three prints (color or black and white) may be submitted.

— Prints must be 8×10 and mounted.

— Late or mutilated prints will not be considered.

— Label the back of each mounted print with the photographer’s name, complete address and phone number. Photos lacking this information will not be considered. Include a title if there is one, and a brief description.

Winners must produce signed releases before prizes can be awarded. Entries will not be returned unless self-addressed envelope with adequate postage is included.

The Center on Aging is not responsible for loss or damage of photos in return mail.

Winners will be determined by a panel of judges selected by the Center on Aging. The panel will include staff members, older adults, and professional photographers.
