WEDDINGS: Carr, Shanks share vows June 10

Tammy Carr and Todd Shanks, both of Salina, were married Saturday, June 10, at the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Larry Parrish officiated the double-ring ceremony.



Parents of the couple are James and Kathy Carr of Hillsboro and Bill and Bonnie Shanks of Stella, Neb.



Janette Parker of Olathe served as maid of honor. Chris Carr, sister of the bride, served as bridesmaid along with Courtney Duerksen and Nichole Jones.



Andy Kelsay was best man. Groomsmen were Bill Shanks, father of the groom, Tim Shanks, brother of the groom, and Brett Matteen.



Candlelighter was Terri Wusk, sister of the groom. Ringbearer was Cody Carr, cousin of the bride.



Ushers were Tim Carr, brother of the bride; David Carr, uncle of the bride; Andrew Wenzl and Brent Arnold, cousins of the groom.



Gift carriers were Erin Carr and Tracy Khounsavanh, Marion, cousins of the bride.



Vocalist was Tim Shanks, Syracuse, Neb., brother of the groom. Pianist was Linda Shanks, sister-in-law of groom. Organist was Donna Diener, Hillsboro.



The bride’s gown was fashioned of french bridal satin and beaded schiffli lace. The fitted bodice featured an illusion sweetheart neckline and short tapered sleeves adorned with beaded lace.



The A-line skirt flowed from the lace covered bodice and was detailed be beaded schiffli lace which completely encircled the skirt and traveled around to the chapel length train. Delicate rosettes were featured down the center of the train.



She carried a round bouquet of 19 white roses and baby’s breath. The church was decorated in hunter green and white colors with pew bows, various flower arrangements, and a heart candelabra.



A reception dinner, held following the ceremony at the Hillsboro American Legion, was hosted by Nancy and David Day, aunt and uncle of the bride. Gary and Sally Andrews and Tom and Lori Koslowsky were food servers.



Robin Shanks and Marilyn Findlay, aunts of the groom, served the cake with the help of Kelly Krotz and Ann Carr, aunts of the bride.



The bride is a graduate of Hillsboro High School and Kansas State University. She is employed as an accountant at Kennedy and Coe, LLC, of Salina.



The groom is a graduate of Southeast Consolidated High School of Stella, Neb., and Peru (Neb) State College. He is employed as a certified public accountant at Kennedy and Coe, LLC.



Following the honeymoon trip of four days at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., and a three-day cruise to the Bahamas, the couple reside in Salina.



A rehearsal meal prepared and hosted by Sue Klassen was served in the church fellowship hall Friday, June 9.
