Commissioner Jack Bruner, Burns, is recovering in Wichita from a stroke suffered early Saturday, Commission Chair Linda Peterson announced at the start of Monday’s meeting.

She was told by Evelyn Bruner, his wife, that the stoke had affected the 76-year-old commissioner’s right side and his speech, but he had shown “much improvement” from Saturday through Sunday night.

At last report, Bruner had no movement in his right arm, but some movement in his right leg, Peterson reported.
