Lions Eye Clinic to collect eyeglasses at county fair

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
The Lions Eye Clinic of Marion County is looking for old eyeglasses and is inviting people to donate theirs at the clinic’s booth at the Marion County Fair.

Old glasses can be used to improve vision for people in low-income countries. The lenses are analyzed and cataloged and a team of volunteer eye doctors and nurses travel to underprivileged countries, where they examine eyes and fit lenses to suit the need. Unfortunately there are more people than can be helped.

Last year, 98 pairs of eyeglasses were collected. This year’s goal is to collect 125 pairs.

Fair visitors are also invited to sign up at the booth for a pair of binoculars or a free eye examination at the Lions Eye Clinic.
