— Work history: U.S. Navy, farmer, county weed department, implement dealership.



— Experience-related qualifications: (1) Military: leadership related issues. (2) School board and member of the state Grain Sorghum Commission: budgetary issues. (3) Marion County Equipment, Inc.: dealing with the public.



— Goals & issues: (1) Residential development to increase tax base. (2) Economic development for improved job opportunities and wages. (3) Open government that invites public involvement.



— “Why should I vote for you?” (1) I’m open-minded and seek input on issues, but also decisive as required. (2) I believe in consensus-building in pursuit of goals. (3) I have no personal agenda other than what is stated in the previous question.



— New landfill in Marion County? Yes.





Eileen Sieger, Marion





— Personal: Age 56; husband, Harry; one adult child; lived in Marion County for 45 years.



— Work history: Substitute teacher, 13 years; classroom teacher in the Wichita public schools, seven years.



— Experience-related qualifications: (1) Marion High School graduate; B. S. E. from Emporia State University. (2) Record of public service positions held now and for many years including county, charitable, civic, and religious organizations. (3) Leadership experience at local, area and state levels.



— Goals & issues: (1) Work through the completion of the Marion County comprehensive plan and follow through with any recommendations. (2) Improve the communication and cooperation between the county commission and the city commissions. (3) Hold the line on the county budget and achieve a balance between providing needed/desired services and available funds while encouraging proper economic development in the county to increase the tax base.



— “Why should I vote for you?” (1) I am knowledgeable about county policies and procedures because I have been involved in several capacities for nearly 10 years. (2) I have had many leadership positions on various boards and committees. (3) I will devote the necessary time and work hard to make good decisions for Marion County.



— New landfill in Marion County? I will follow the Marion County Solid Waste Plan which is in place.
