Senior Scribbles

Mary McFadden, registered nurse, will be available at the Hillsboro Senior Center at 9 a.m., July 20, for foot care and blood pressures. After lunch, Nancy Pihl of the Marion County Extension Service will present a program on “Dairy Foods for Good Health.”



Men’s coffee is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., July 21. Come for coffee, conversation and games.



The July birthday dinner will be held July 24. Following the meal, a video, “Mr. Sears Catalog-the American Experience,” will be shown featuring turn-of-the century items for mail order, as well as looking at American society at the time.



On July 26, Michael Reeh, local physician, will be the luncheon guest. He will address the group after lunch and games. Gab and goodies will fill the afternoon.



The following volunteered their time at the center last week.



Kitchen: Nellie Jost, Mildred Jantz, Irma Groening, Irma Koop, Judy Malin, Erma Pankratz, Millie Hanneman, Marie Wiens, Mariann Unruh and Rose Hatcher.



Meal drivers: Harold Pankratz and Paul Ediger.



FISH transportation: Marie Jost, Vera Isaac, Art Unrau and Helen Fadenrecht.



SENIOR MENU



July 19: Covered dish.



July 20: Oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes/gravy, coleslaw, whole wheat roll, cherry crisp.



July 21: Turkey chef salad, crackers, pineapple Jell-O, carrot cake.



July 24: Steak ranchero, baked beans, cucumber/tomato salad, corn bread, oatmeal cake.



July 25: Beef and noodles, harvard beets, whole wheat roll, honeydew.



July 26: Liver onions or steak, creamed potatoes, peas, whole wheat roll, jello with bananas.
