Amanda Heiser to compete for Miss Teen of Kansas title

Amanda Heiser, daughter of Larry and Kim Heiser of Hillsboro, is among the candidates competing for the title of Miss Teen of Kansas at the 2000 State Pageant, July 21- 23 in Wichita.



The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship, a $500 educational savings bond and $250 to present to her school on behalf of the Miss Teen of America Scholarship and Recognition Program.



The state titleholder will be eligible to compete for the national title of Miss Teen of America, as well as additional scholarships, prizes and awards.



Candidates will be judged in six areas, including scholastic record, achievement and service to school and community, personal development of hobbies, talents and skills, general awareness written test, personality projection in formal wear, and judge’s interview.



The state pageant finals will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, July 23, in the Broadview Grand Heritage Hotel Ballroom. The event is open to the public and tickets will be available at the door.



Heiser is being sponsored in the pageant by Grene Vision Group and Hillsboro Industries.
