In honor of Flag Day, the City of Hillsboro will join many other
cities across the United States in saluting the nation?s flag and
reciting the ?Pledge of Allegiance.? The local ceremony will be today
at 7 p.m. in Memorial Park.
?This ceremony is part of the National League of Cities? national Flag
Day celebration,? said Mayor Delores Dalke. ?It has actually been
going on for 15 years, but this will be Hillsboro?s first year to
participate.?
Dalke said the purpose of the program is simply to recite the ?Pledge
of Allegiance? so people will remember what Flag Day is all about.
The American Legion, Sons of the American Legion, and American Legion
Auxiliary will participate in the brief gathering. The public is
encouraged t
