The Goessel High School Music Department has announced that their
annual community barbecue and concert will be held at the high school
lunchroom and auditorium on Thursday, May 11.
The meal starts serving at 5:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7
p.m. There is no charge for the event, but all donations will go
toward the travel fund of the GHS band and choir.
Almost 90 percent of all items needed for the barbecue dinner are
donated by various businesses and community people throughout the
area.
The menu will consist of hamburgers, beans, buns, chips and a cookie
and is served to more than 500 people each year.
The concert will showcase the highly regarded Goessel High School Band
and Choir, which will perform their 2000 state festival presentations.
Both the band and choir received all ?superior? ratings at the KSHSAA
State Large Group Festival at Ellsworth this spring.
Among the band?s selections will be Jaime Texidor?s ?Amparito Roca?
and ?Gaelic Rhapsody? by Elliot Del Borgo.
The choir will showcase Robert H. Young?s ?Echo,? and ?Elijah Rock?
arranged by Hogan.
Also featured at the concert will be the fifth-grade band, junior high
Band, junior high choir, high school men?s chorus, high school women?s
chorus, and the Elbiata Singers.
