The Tabor tennis completed its dual season with an 8-1 pasting of St.
Mary College Saturday in Leavenworth.
The win raised the Bluejays? dual record to 10-3.
The only match Tabor lost all day was in No. 1 doubles, where Tyler
Brown and Nate Wienandt lost to Greg Burns and Casey Wells 3-6, 7-5,
10-8.
Brown won the No. 1 singles match over Burns, 6-2, 6-7 (2-7), 10-7.
Tabor?s James Fisher defeated Wells 6-0, 4-6, 10-6 in No. 2 singles,
Wienandt defeated Michael Lu 6-3, 6-0 in No. 3 singles, Tim Balzer
defeated Lindsay Stephens 6-2, 6-1 in No. 4 singles, Josh Lady
defeated Anthony Schmidt 6-0, 6-0 in No. 5 singles, and John Franz
defeated Ryan Haymie 8-4 in No. 6 singles.
Fisher/Balzer defeated Stephens/ Haymie in No. 2 doubles 6-1, 6-3, and
Lady/Franz defeated Lu/ Schmidt 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 10-4.
Paulus is looking forward to the regular-season finale on Friday and
Saturday: the KCAC tournament in Wichita.
?I have been very happy in how the team continues to develop and gets
better each week,? Paulus said. ?We just need to take another step
forward as we prepare for the conference tournament this weekend.?
He expects Bethany and Friends to be key competitors. Bethany has 37
dual points thus far to Tabor?s 35 and 31 for Friends.
?Bethany and Friends have been playing well and we should all be close
in points as we go into the tournament,? he said.
