Texas journalist named managing editor of Hillsboro Star-Journal

Barbara Holsomback has been named managing editor of the Hillsboro Star-Journal by the paper?s new publisher, Bill Meyer of Marion.



According to the Star-Journal, Holsomback, a Texas native, has been involved in journalism in a metropolitan setting for 25 years, including 11 years at the Fort Worth Star Telegram.



Prior to that, she did reporting and editing for a weekly newspaper for two years, and then for two years worked as a writer-photographer for a community daily. Both publications were in Texas.



In 1989 she became associate editor of AdWeek magazine in Dallas. Seven years ago she founded a marketing and communications consulting agency.



She was expected to arrive Friday.



Holsomback succeeds Keith Lippoldt, who was managing editor when the paper was owned by Wedel Publishing LLC and Troy Wedel was publisher and editor. He resigned in February.
