Celia Gross (seated), Hillsboro, was honored Tuesday as Parkside Homes? ?Volunteer of the Year.? For the past seven years, Gross has been playing the organ for the residents. Activities director Vida Bartel, shown here presenting Gross with a certificate of appreciation and a coupon for two meals at Kingfisher?s Inn, Marion, said the organ music helps to stimulate residents who may not be able to participate in other activities. Though her repertoire has included a variety of music over the years, Gross said she mostly plays old familiar hymns because residents seem to enjoy them the most. ?And I enjoy playing the organ, so it does something for me, too,? she said.
