Brubacher?s term as TC men?s coach to be ?open ended?

At least one of the coaching situations for the Tabor College basketball programs has been settled for the time being.

Don Brubacher said last week he will continue at the helm of the men?s program for an open-ended term.

At the same time, Brubacher said the college is searching for an assistant coach who could be groomed to take his place down the road. Even if the assistant coach is found, no timeline for such a transition has been established.

Brubacher, who is in his first year as athletic director, stepped back into his familiar role as head basketball coach following a four-year hiatus last summer after Don Zimmerman resigned in May.

Brubacher?s team was 6-10 in the KCAC and 12-16 overall this season. In his previous 17-year stint as head coach, the Bluejays won eight KCAC championships and qualified for post-season play 15 times.

In addition to his work as athletic director and basketball coach, Brubacher is head coach of women?s soccer.

Meanwhile, Brubacher said the search continues to find a replacement for Matt Krebs, who resigned in March as head coach for the women?s team.

Brubacher said many inquiries have been received and several contacts have been made, but to this point the search remains wide open.

?We want to find the right person just as soon as possible,? he said.
