Hillsboro Public Library recognizes volunteers? work

The Hillsboro Public Library expresses its appreciation for its volunteers during ?National Volunteer Month,? which is April, and ?Volunteer Appreciation Week,? April 9-14.

The library staff depends on its volunteers to do a lot of the details that otherwise would be delayed.

Volunteers put bar codes, labels and covers on newly purchased books. They also clean and repair books in need of care.

Other duties of volunteers include finding books mis-shelved, checking books in, displays and general cleaning.

In order to show appreciation, the library is having coffeecake and coffee for its volunteers. On April 14, the library will have cookies and punch for all patrons.

Currently, six volunteers work at the library on a weekly basis, including Betty Bernhardt, Arlene Pankratz, Mildred Harding, Elaine Jantzen, Delores Carnes and Gina Andrews.
