Depth proved to be the key, as the Tabor College women?s tennis team defeated Saint Mary College on Saturday, six matches to three.

Missing from the lineup were two key players for Tabor, Audrey Haynes and Katherine Klepper, who are both out with injuries.

?Audrey and Katherine are two players who play at the top of our line-up? said head coach Kory Unruh. ?We will miss them.?

After singles play, both schools had three wins, as Saint Mary won the top three spots and the Bluejays won the bottom three.

Tabor?s Julie Bunch, Erica Buller and Tina Stobbe each won their matches without dropping a set.

Tabor secured its victory in doubles by sweeping all three matches. The No. 1 doubles spot was a close match, but Naila Kunantaeva and Lisa Wall prevailed, 9-7.

Nancy Isaac and Buller won No. 2 doubles 8-4 and Bunch and Stobbe took No. 3 doubles 8-3.

Coach Unruh was pleased with the play of the team considering the lack of practice they have had this spring.

The women?s team hosts Cowley County today and will travel to Hesston next Tuesday.
