ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Eleven area high school students were among the 54 students featured at the Spring Piano Festival at Bethel College, March 18.

Students performed a memorized piece and additional music they prepared. They also received instruction from one of three adjudicators, Stephanie Brunelli, Annetta Smith and Janette Rupert.

Students received a certificate and a critique sheet with a rating.

The purpose of the festival, according to the college, was to give students an opportunity to perform before a competent listener and receive instruction and encouragement toward better musicianship.

Activities included ?Exploring Rhythm? with Keith Woolery, ?Exploring Art,? ?Exploring Instruments? and music games by students of the Newton High School Music Club.

Area students who participated were Ethan Riggs, Margo Regier and Ashlee Burnett from Peabody; Kelli Just, Lauren Just, Robert Jost, Darren Enns and Angie Claassen from Hillsboro; and Christa Graber, Laurina Graber and Renee Fensky from Goessel.
