The Marion County Genealogical Society will visit the Newton and Marion libraries to do research during the next three weeks.

Society members and visitors will be doing research on their family history.

A meeting will be held March 27 at the Newton Public Library to learn what genealogical records are available. Those wishing to carpool will meet at 6 p.m. at the Marion Presbyterian Church, located at Lawrence and Elm. Others can meet the group at 7 p.m. at the library.

A lock-in at the Marion City Library is planned for April 15, beginning at 6 p.m. Those attending are invited to bring their genealogical research work and any books, articles and other information to share, as well as a covered dish for the potluck supper.

MCGS members also will bring a scanner to scan family photos or documents, an extra computer and printer and a microfiche reader. Visitors interested in family history research are welcome.
