HMS wrestlers end their season at league tourney

The Hillsboro Middle School wrestling team took part in the Cottonwood Valley League Tournament last week, winning two weight divisions, placing second in another and third in two classes.

Brian Thiessen and Tracy Jost were first-place finishers for the Trojans. Both wrestlers finished with a 2-0 record.

Kyle Jilka finished with a record of 2-1, good enough for second place.

?Brian, Tracy and Kyle did real well,? coach Len Coryea said. ?(The entire team is) all getting more knowledgeable every year and could make good high school wrestlers.?

Coryea said the eighth-grade class were good leaders this year.

?We didn?t have as good a year as we hoped,? Coryea said. ?But I believe we had a good year and there are seven or eight eighth-graders who should pursue wrestling next year.?

Ryan Janzen and Wade Kimbrel were both third-place finishers for the Trojans. Tyler Stout was 2-2, Tim Glahn and Daniel Yoder were 1-2, and Jeremy Klose, Michael Roble and Cody Pankratz completed the tournament at 0-2.
