The Hillsboro Middle School wrestling team took part in two dual meets and a tournament last weekend at Lyons.

The Trojans defeated Remington 31-15 in one dual meet, but were defeated by Chase County later in the day, 44-30.

?We continued to wrestle well and are improving,? coach Len Coryea said. ?Chase County always offers us experienced wrestlers to compete against. We lost some close matches to them.?

Several Hillsboro wrestlers stood out in the two meets. Ryan Janzen dominated his competition and was the only Trojan wrestler to finish the day at 3-0.

Tyler Stout and Kyle Jilka were both 2-0 and Aaron Yoder, Dan Yoder, Tracy Jost, Cody Pankratz and Jeremy Klose were 1-1. Brian Thiessen was 1-0.

Wade Kimbrel and Lee Sorensen were both 1-2 for Hillsboro while Michael Bookless and Michael Roble finished 0-2.

The Trojans had a successful tournament at Lyons Saturday, placing 11 out of their 14 wrestlers in the top three positions for medals.

?This is the best we have ever done at Lyons,? Coryea said. ?Ryan Janzen became the first Hillsboro wrestler to win this tournament two times. He and Tyler Stout remain undefeated for the year.?

Janzen, Stout, Aaron Yoder and Jost were all first-place winners for HMS. Dan Yoder, Glahn and Thiessen finished second and Bookless, Kimbrel, Jilka and Roble placed third.

The Trojans returned to action Tuesday at Marion. Hillsboro also wrestles Friday at the Leon-Bluestem Tournament beginning at 4 p.m.
