The Hillsboro Middle School wrestling team opened the season with a pair of victories over St. John?s Military and Lyons.

The win over Lyons was the first time in HMS history the Trojans have defeated the Lions.

?I was extremely pleased with the way the boys wrestled tonight,? said assistant coach Len Coryea.

Several wrestlers won matches against both opponents for the Trojans. Ryan Janzen, Dan Yoder, Tyler Stout, Jeremy Klose, Kyle Jilka and Aaron Yoder each went 2-0 on the day. All six Hillsboro wrestlers won both their matches by pin.

Wade Kimbrel, Michael Bookless, Tim Glahn, Tracy Jost and Brian Thiessen each went 1-1.

Justin Hein and Cody Pankratz were both 0-1 and Michael Roble was 0-2.

?The enthusiasm everyone displayed for teammates was great,? Coryea said.

The Trojans returned to action Monday night at Whitewater to take on Remington, Chase County and Marion.
