ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Hillsboro High School will host a preparational meeting for seniors at Hillsboro, Peabody and Marion high schools from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Feb. 23.
The meeting, called ?Making College Count,? will teach students how to set and achieve personal success goals, avoid typical freshman pitfalls, manage time and set priorities in the college setting, achieve academic success, effectively choose extracurricular activities, utilize internships and other jobs to build critical skills, and create a personal college experience that will impress future interviewers and graduate schools.
According to Patrick S. O?Brien, founder of the program, ?Only about 73 percent of freshmen make it to their sophomore year. Couple that with the fact that only about 53 percent of students entering college today will graduate within five years.?
The event is free. Anyone wanting more information should contact Diana Holub, HHS counselor, at 947-3991.
