TC conference to focus on needs of poor

?Strange Love? is the theme for the 2000 Tabor College Missions Conference Feb. 13-14.

Bronwyn Schweigerdt, a college instructor and journalist from Bakersfield, Calif., will speak to this theme using the Gospels of Matthew and Luke.

Schweigerdt?s speaking ministry is sponsored by Compassion International. She tries to encourage students to share God?s desire to care for the poor.

?I want to speak to students because that was the time in my own life when I was impacted by challenging speakers,? she said.

Schweigerdt will present three messages during the conference.

The first, ?Who are You? What are You Doing? Where are You Going?? will take place at 7 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13 ?God?s Heart for the Poor? will be the focus at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 14. The final session, ?The Great Battle,? will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Monday evening.

All sessions will be held in the Chapel-Auditorium.

In addition to the sessions, a missions and service fair will be held in the Tabor College Student Center Feb. 14-17. Representatives from various missions and service organizations will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In keeping with the theme of the week, students will participate in activities such as service projects and fasting. They will designate their cafeteria meal reimbursements to benefit children who are supported through Compassion International.

The public is welcome to attend all of these events.
