The Hillsboro High School wrestling team ended its regular season Saturday afternoon by going 2-2 at the Southeast of Saline Invitational Tournament.

The Trojans started with a tough loss to Remington, 46-18.

The lone wins for Hillsboro came in consecutive matches. Ryan Jilka started with a pinfall coming just 10 seconds from the end of the match in 160-pound class.

Chuck Bina followed suit at 171 pounds, coming away with an early pinfall in just 1:10.

Wade Sorensen then pinned his opponent in just 1:18 at 189 pounds.

But the story of the match was at 215 pounds, where Trojan Ronnie Davis took on Justin Eck, ranked third in Class 3-2-1A.

Davis led for much of the match, but came down with a stinger in his right arm and was charged a penalty. He lost 15-8 but held his own against a tough opponent.

Hillsboro?s highlight of the day was defeating Marion.

At 103-pounds, Trojan Michael Penner got the match off on the right foot by getting a pin late in his match.

After three consecutive losses to the Warriors, Bina got Hillsboro back on track with a pin in the first period.

After a Sorensen loss, Davis came up with a big win, 3-2 in overtime over James Karhoff, who has given Davis trouble throughout the season.

After cruising past St. John?s Military School, Hillsboro took on Southeast of Saline, losing a close match 37-24.

Wins for Hillsboro came from Jared Hefley, Carson Greenhaw, Ryan Jilka and Davis.

Hillsboro returns to action Saturday in the MCAA League Meet in Hesston.
