DEATHS: Helen Schattak, 85

Helen Schattak, 85, retired cashier at Vogt?s IGA, died Jan. 13 at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.

Services were held Jan. 17 at Trinity Mennonite Church, Hillsboro, with pastor Tim Kliewer officiating. Burial was at Durham Park Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 21, 1914, to Edward Jantz and Wilhelmina Arrant in Drake, Canada.

On Aug. 26, 1934, she was married to Arthur Schattak, who predeceased her.

Survivors include sons, Glenn of Hillsboro and Gary of Lyndon; daughters, Jeanette Hellman of Hillsboro and Janice Bailey of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established for Parkside Homes.
