Dave Breese, well-known Christian television speaker and Bible teacher and author, is recovering in Hillsboro Community Medical Center after suffering a stroke Jan. 10.

?He has weakness, but he is stable,? his wife, Carol, reported Monday.

She has been battling the flu at home, but her children visited him Sunday. ?The kids thought he was better,? she said.

Breese, 73, has operated his national Christian Destiny ministry from Hillsboro for more than 35 years. His work has taken him on speaking engagements around the country and abroad.

?Of all things, for a preacher to not be able to talk right now,? Carol added. ?But he did some talking yesterday, which is good for him. It sounds really good, but we have a long road ahead.?
