Only three weeks after beating St. Mary College for their first and only victory of the season, the Tabor College women were hammered by the Spires, 92-56 Monday in Leavenworth.

The Bluejays (1-14) fell victim to their own mistakes, turning the ball over 32 times, and also the one-two scoring punch of Amanda Chmidling and Erin Hoagland, who scored 28 and 20 points, respectively, for St. Mary.

Amanda Whitehead lead the Bluejays with 14 points. Katherine Klepper was the only other Tabor player to score in double digits, finishing with 10.

NW Oklahoma St.?On Thursday, the Bluejays were crushed by a tough Northwestern Oklahoma State squad, 108-54.

This was Tabor?s first game back from the holiday break, and the lack of practice showed in the early going.

?We came out sluggish and did not have the timing and chemistry,? said head coach Matt Krebs. ?Because of the weather, many of our players attended only one practice before the game and this showed in our play.?

After taking a 19-point lead at the half, Northwest started the second half with an 18-2 run and coasted to an easy victory.

Tabor was led by Susan Carter, who had a team high 21 points. Freshman Katherine Klepper added 12 points and eight rebounds.

The Bluejays return to conference play this week when they travel to Ottawa on Thursday and Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday.

?It is always difficult to go on the road,? Krebs said. ?We need to be mentally ready to play.?
