LETTERS: County-wide recycling unfair to some cities

No, I do not favor the tax-based county-wide recycling plan in its present form.

My city has a mandated recycling service that the residents pay for on a monthly basis. If the county plan is forced on us, it will be a double cost/tax that has no benefit for the cities that have recycling services.

Second, if it is pushed through, the funds collected from these cities through taxes should be returned to these entities to offset their recycling costs.

The county?s ambulance tax is collected and returned to the city that provides ambulance service to the southeast quadrant and parts of Chase County, so this would not be an unreasonable request.
